Freshly baked in no time!
In Sweden, the ”fika,” or coffee break, is a treasured part of the day. And the Swedish fika tradition holds that coffee be served with seven small cakes and sweet biscuits, like KAFFEREP kanelbullar (ready to bake, frozen). In Sweden, we even celebrate “the cinnamon bun day” on the 4th of October! This typical Swedish pastry stems from the early 19th century as the accessibility to various ingredients increased after Europe had suffered a period of economic hardship.
The divine scent of cinnamon in no time
Every country has its known-by-all, loved-by-all types of cookies, pastries and cakes. These are ours. Enough kinds for everyone to find a personal favorite. Ideally stocked at home for convenient serving whenever good friends pop by, eager for “fika” – coffee break Swedish style. No time for preparation. Plenty of time for friends.
For many Swedes, the cinnamon bun is much more than just a pastry. It symbolizes everything good about home-baking – warmth, comfort and caring. Because nothing says home like the tantalizing smell of freshly-baked cinnamon buns. It’s a wheat dough bun with a buttery cinnamon filling, decorated with nib sugar. Simple, yet delicious. And the KAFFEREP cinnamon buns are conveniently prepared. Just a short while in the oven and they’re ready to please.
Sharing a Swedish tradition
Fika—a little Swedish word with a lot of meaning. It's a treasured Swedish tradition of taking moments together over good coffee and baked treats. We want to share this tradition with the world, so we created KAFFEREP, a food series featuring fika faves like ginger thins and oat biscuits (which all go great with a cup of IKEA coffee). You don't need a lot of time to bake and prep to enjoy fika. You just need enough time to be with family and friends.
