2. Seasonal tips to keep the mattress as good as new.

These daily and weekly routines are accompanied by those we must do by season, usually when the season changes.

A lot of mattresses can sink, depending on the material they are made of or the weight of the person thtat sleeps on them, among other factors. In these cases is essential to turn them over at least when winter and summer comes. And not just because of that, but also because there are models that have winter side (warmer and insulating) and summer side (thinner and fresher). Turn it over, and not only from one side to another, also putting the part of the feet and the head and viceversa. You can do this different times along the year if your mattress sinks a lot, you will notice the difference!

3. Yearly tips to clean the mattress thoroughly

We arrived to the heart of the matter; how to clean the mattress thoroughly. You must do this several times a year.

  • Start shaking it, “hitting” it.
  • Continue with the vacuum cleaner, but only if it has a hand nozzle for the brush and always at the lowest power, to avoid causing damages.
  • If you don't have a vacuum cleaner with special nozzle, do it with a brush, specially on the dirtier areas or that have more friction, like the area of the feet.
  • To clean the mattress thoroughly and end with bad smells and germs, we recommend you bicarbonate trick: pour it over (not too much quantity) and leave it for an hour so it's absorved. Then, use a hand brush to remove it completely and clear the rest with the vacuum cleaner if necessary.

Some of our mattresses have pull-out covers and are washable. Dust mites proliferate in warm, dark and humid environments like beds, that is why, for allergic people we recommend these type of mattresses. You will be able to clean them frequently to maintain them clean and impeccable forever.

There are padded or impermeable covers, that wrap the mattress like a fitted sheet or just cover it. What is important is that you have options for each need and that perfectly solve the problem of difficult stains. Thanks to the covers you will avoid cleaning the mattress often.

But remember that every 10 years although the mattress has been well maintained, it is advised to change it.

We love that our clients use our items in a creative way. Do it as well yourself! But you must take into account that the modifications and changes you make on IKEA items prevent they can be resold or use for its original purpose, therefore they invalidate IKEA commercial guarantees and the return rights.
